Be gentle
Be gentle with people, animals, and yourself. Even our thoughts can be gentle.
Heart Yoga core values
Our programs are shaped by simple practices that help children and young people care for others, care for themselves, and return to their breath.
These ideas come from yoga’s traditional ethical teachings. At Heart Yoga, we use clear, age-appropriate language so families can understand the values that guide our spaces and programs.
Be gentle with people, animals, and yourself. Even our thoughts can be gentle.
The truth is important. So is how we say it.
That includes more than things: someone’s turn, someone’s story, or someone’s spotlight.
There is a time to be big and loud, and a time to be quiet and still. You get to choose what this moment needs.
You do not need the most or the best to be happy. Open hands can feel better than tight fists.
We take care of our mat, our room, and our body.
You do not have to be like anyone else to be exactly right.
Wobbling is part of it. You get stronger in the wobble, not after it.
Where does that feeling live in your body—your belly, your chest? Just noticing is the practice.
You belong to something larger than just yourself.
Nobody wins yoga.
You cannot control everything that happens today, but you can always take one long breath out.
Heart Yoga for families
For children in kindergarten through second grade, we lead with the short, memorable phrases—like “Be gentle” and “I am enough.” The traditional yoga names can be introduced later, when they are useful and meaningful.
“Be gentle. I am enough. Take one long breath out.”
Heart Yoga meets each participant with care, curiosity, and room to grow.
